Pharmacy student Devon Rudolph presented the program at the July 25, 2013, meeting of the Alexandria Rotary Club. Rudolph, an intern at the Thrifty White Pharmacy, spoke on prescription drug abuse. He noted that unintentional drug poisoning is now the second largest cause of accidental death, and that one of four high school students will abuse prescription medications. Officer Jim Gripne of the Alexandria Police Department also was a guest at the meeting. He briefly overviewed the police department’s prescription drop-off site, located just inside the new police headquarters. The drop-off bin has collected more then 300 lbs. of unwanted medication to date.
